At the Library Auditorium

Join us for a revival of the Old World with Moscow Gypsy Army! Combining Cossack, Russian, Ukrainian and Gypsy (Romany) dance and song with
traditional folk costumes and authentic instruments, the group brings a vibrant musical tradition to life. The group performs Gypsy standards
including "Dark Eyes", "Two Guitars", classic pieces including "Chardash", ballads, tangos, waltzes and a growing number of popular songs.
The lineup includes: Brooklyn veteran bassist, Bruk Leo; virtuoso balalaika player, Lina Karokhina, winner of multiple international competitions;
Mikhail Smirnov (guitar, back vocals) who has performed for President George W. Bush, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev; singer Alexander Meshikov,
well known Gypsy singer. The show was invited to perform for the New York Gypsy Festival in 2010, held in Brooklyn, as well as the lavish wedding of
Anna Anisimova (a.k.a NY's own "Russian-American Paris Hilton"), the daughter of Russian aluminum magnate Vassily Anisimov. They have also performed
with legendary Gypsy singer
Zhenya Shevchenko (1927-2009).
