Triskele - Four Celtic Ladies
Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 2:00pm
At the Library Auditorium
Triskele was born at Albany Medical Center in the winter of 2009. Noeleen Whelan, a Dublin-born native, found co-worker Sharon Wheeler, a native of the Capital District,
and this all female Celtic group was formed. Both lovers of the traditional and Gaelic music, Wheeler is a registered music therapist and multi-instrumentalist.
Whelan plays guitar and bodhran. Their unique vocal harmonies and passion for helping others and sharp wit make them a unique blend o' sweet and saucy. What does
Triskele mean? Triskele, or triple spiral, is a pre-celtic symbol found on a number of Irish Megalithic and Neolithic sites, most notably inside the Newgrange
passage tomb. The three spirals reflect earth, sea, and sky or body, mind, and spirit. Triskele's passion is to revive the Gaelic language in song. Triskele also
makes it their mission in life to tithe a portion of their sales profits to a different charity each month. In their short tenure, Triskele has performed at lunch
time concerts at Albany Medical Center, private parties, at
Potter's Tavern, Irish Mist in Troy, NY,
Lyon's Lake,
Ancient Order of Hibernians,
50 South, Katie O'Byrne's,
and have been guests on Siena's radio show (WVCR 88.3), "Proud to be Irish". This summer they are playing the Hunter Mountain Celtic Festival and the Bennington, VT Irish
Music Festival. We're proud to host their LI debut down at the coast in Mastic Beach! We hope you'll join us for a special afternoon. To hear samples of their music,
